Hammam Baths is a small hammam located in the Thissio district, 300 meters from the metro station of the same name. An ideal place to cleanse your body and relax your mind. I really like the quality of the massages!
Getting started
This hammam is well known and its capacity is limited to 8-10 people maximum. So, if you wish to discover Hammam Baths, make sure to book early, by phone or by e-mail (see practical information below).
From the outside, the place looks ordinary. Indeed, the entrance looks like a small cosmetic store. Upon arrival, you will be asked to enter your personal information (name, date of birth, medical data, etc.) on a tablet. So it’s a bit impersonal as an introduction…
Then, the staff will take you to an individual cabin to change. Individual lockers with padlocks also allow you to leave your belongings safely.
As for the “equipment”, it is fully provided. Indeed, towels, hair dryers, toiletries, make-up remover, face and body creams are available. Just bring your swimsuit!

A spellbinding performance
The hammam part itself is small, without particular charm but very clean. You can sit on the circular marble benches or on the central warm slab. And then we enjoy the benefits of steam to relax.
Be aware that this hammam is not large, hence a certain promiscuity. And that it is mixed. If you want more privacy, the hammam is reserved for women on Tuesdays.
There is also an adjoining room for massages, with two large marble tables. The team of masseurs is made up of men and women. Ladies, if you feel uncomfortable about being massaged by a man, remember to mention it at the time of booking.
Try the Ali-Mama Hammam formula, it is absolutely divine! This ritual begins with a classic hammam followed by an exfoliating full body scrub and ends with a revitalizing massage. The body and hair are covered with olive oil soap, the water glides over the body. The massage is strong and of high quality. We let go completely. You’ll come out of it totally refreshed! Ideal to recover after a sports session or simply after a day spent wandering around Athens.

Finally…
Before returning to reality, you can extend your moment of relaxation in the rest room with a cup of tea or a hibiscus drink. All accompanied by small loukoums.
If you visit Hammam Baths at the end of the day, extend the evening by dining at one of the local restaurants. You will be spoilt for choice, especially in the nearby Adrianou Street. Our favorite in this area is the restaurant Kuzina. A hammam session followed by a dinner with a view of the Acropolis is enough to forget all your worries!
