Buy your tickets for the Acropolis online

buy your Acropolis ticket online

Online reservations and skip-the-line tickets for the Acropolis? There are now several solutions for purchasing your tickets for the Acropolis online:

  • Civitatis: A user-friendly site that allows you to buy your full-price, non-refundable ticket.
  • Get Your Guide: also offers online purchase of full-price tickets for the Acropolis, for just a few euros more than on the official website. The reservation process is very easy.
  • the official website of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, which also allows you to purchase your Acropolis tickets online. The advantage: the lowest price. Disadvantages: the site is not very user-friendly, and the tickets are neither cancellable nor modifiable.

Good to know…

In order to regulate the number and flow of visitors to the site, you are now required to purchase your Acropolis tickets in advance. You must book a date and time to visit the Parthenon and the Acropolis of Athens. It is still possible to buy your tickets on site, but without the assurance of being able to visit the Acropolis and its Parthenon on the dates and at the times you want, and above all without the assurance of being able to visit with the people accompanying you… Another advantage of booking your admission online: of course, you won’t be the only one to have anticipated buying your ticket online, and you’ll still have to wait at the entrance – but still less than at the counter reserved for on-site purchases!

  • At Civitatis and Get Your Guide, you can only purchase full-price tickets for the Acropolis online. Only these are available online.
  • If you are eligible for discounted or free tickets, you will need to book your visit via the Hellenic Heritage e-tickets platform. Then, on the day, you’ll need to show proof of identity. Please note that without the required ID, or if the ID does not prove entitlement to free or reduced-price admission, you will not be allowed to enter the site (no change of ticket, no refund of the price paid). (see our article on practical tips for visiting the Acropolis).

1 – Buy your tickets for the Acropolis online on the Civitatis website

This first solution is, in our opinion, the simplest. Firstly, the site is user-friendly and there is no confusion among various options since there is only one choice available. It’s worth noting that the ticket is neither exchangeable nor refundable.

On Civitatis, you’ll find several options for purchasing tickets to the Acropolis:

Advantages: Booking is quick and easy, so you don’t have to waste time comparing offers.

Disadvantages: The fare is a little higher than on the official website. You can only buy full-fare tickets.

2- Purchase your tickets for the Acropolis on the Get Your Guide website

The online platform Get Your Guide also offers entrance tickets to visit the Acropolis. The reservation is easy, and the payment is secure. Subsequently, your tickets are sent to you electronically. You don’t even need to print the ticket; it can be displayed and scanned at the entrance of the site from your mobile phone or tablet. Of course, if you prefer, you can print your tickets.

Advantages: On Get Your Guide, online booking is very easy and what’s more, it’s in English.

Disadvantages: the price is slightly higher than on the official site. Only full-price tickets are available.

3- Book your tickets for the Acropolis online on the official website

The official website of the Greek Ministry of Culture offers the option to purchase tickets online at the same rate as those available at the entrance of the site (no additional cost). The site can be used to issue full-price tickets. If you are eligible for a reduced fare or a free ticket, you can also reserve your time slot via this site. However, this doesn’t mean you won’t have to go to the “fast lane” ticket office to present your supporting documents. Please note that if you do not present your supporting documents on the day, the holder of the free or reduced ticket will not be allowed to enter the site! No ticket changes or refunds.

Good to know: You must reserve your ticket for a specific day and time slot. You must be at the entrance to the site 30 mins before the chosen time. Entry is possible 15 mins before and 15 mins after the chosen time slot. For example, if you have booked the 10am-11am time slot, you can enter from 9.45am to 11.15am.

This site is available in Greek or English. The process is explained below.

Another downside: the tickets are neither changeable nor refundable.

How to order your tickets for the Acropolis online on the official website?

  • In the first place, visit the Hellenic Heritage e-ticket website, and select the English version (‘EN’)
  • Then, you can choose the region and the archaeological site you are interested in, such as the Acropolis, Heraklion Museum, Knossos, etc. For the Acropolis, select the ‘Attica & Central Greece’ region, then ‘Acropolis and Slope‘. Combined tickets (Acropolis-Agora-Keiramikos…) are available at a later stage; also, choose ‘Acropolis and Slope’.
  • Then, you can choose the date and time slot for your visit. The date and time are fixed (and cannot be changed). You cannot visit on another day.

Buy tickets for the Acropolis online on the official website: prices
