Organized tours from Athens

The first “standard” packages start at less than €100 a day. These packages are attractive because they include not only transportation , but also a guided tour of the site and entrance fees.

We also really enjoy the tours offered by Alternative Athens too, even if they are expensive. This local agency offers group tours (in English), enabling you to discover not only the site but also the surrounding villages.

By car

It’s undoubtedly the most practical of all. In fact, the road to Delphi is quite straightforward (it takes 30 minutes to get out of Athens, 1 hour on the freeway and then 30 minutes on a beautiful mountain road). You can make a few stops along the way: Ossios Loukas, Arachova, Galaxidi (see below). To rent a car, we recommend the RentalCars website.

By public transport

KTEL buses are also available. You can find schedules and information on their website .

By tourist bus

Sometimes it’s less complicated to take an all-inclusive one-day tour . This means that you don’t have to take charge of organizing transport. Departure by bus from Syntagma in Athens, visit and return in the evening. Not a very personal experience, but you don’t worry about anything, it’s so practical! See the previous paragraph for other ways to visit.

With a private driver

This is obviously a more expensive but very comfortable option (from €375). The driver will pick you up and drop you off at your hotel. It also means you can do the tour at your own pace. Welcome PickUps offers a tour of this type, with a friendly recommended route that can nonetheless be adapted to suit your wishes. The driver is usually English-speaking. Please note that a guided tour of the site is not included.
