Grand Beach Lagonissi is located on the coast of Apollo, about 40 km southwest of Athens. It is a private beach, very chic, which depends on the famous 5 star hotel Lagonissi Grand Resort.
The natural setting is absolutely beautiful… but unfortunately, luxury comes at a price.
Vivre Athènes shares with you its experience so that you can know the most beautiful aspects of this beach… but also those which we like a little less.
We like…
The beauty of the place:
- The water is clear and transparent. You can see the fish with the naked eye when you go swimming. This beach is undoubtedly one of the places around Athens where the sea is the most beautiful. Swimming is a pure delight.
- The feeling of fine sand
- The beach and the waters are extremely clean. Grand Beach Lagonissi has been awarded the Blue Flag label.
- The natural scenery is very beautiful. When you look at the sea, the perspective is magnificent.
- The place is peaceful during the week, especially in the early morning: not a sound except the background music. You can’t hear the traffic on the nearby road at all.
The many services :
- Swimming is supervised (every day from 9am to 8pm). A doctor is also present on site.
- The beach is accessible to people with reduced mobility.
- Showers, toilets and changing rooms are available for bathers.
- Grand Beach Lagonissi has a beach volleyball court and an outdoor cinema.
- The beach also has a beautiful swimming pool, built on an overhang on the sea. The pool is surrounded by a teak terrace and deck chairs. From there, you can enjoy a beautiful view of the sea and the crystal clear waters.
- For those who wish to do so, there are membership cards that allow them to benefit from many VIP services.
- There is also a nautical club on site which offers various activities: jet-ski, flyboard, canoe, paddle, diving, boat trips
- For those who like entertainment, a DJ is present every weekend from 4 to 8 pm
- Finally, a small detail: the parking lot is shaded. How nice it is not to find your car burning after a day at the beach!
We like less…
First of all: the price. It’s expensive, really VERY expensive.
- Weekdays: €20 per parasol for 2 people, €6 for a child aged 6 to 12 (without deckchair)
- Weekends and school vacations: €50 per parasol for 2 people, €8 for a child aged 6 to 12 (without deckchair)
- Free for children aged 0 to 6
Of course, the beach is superb… but one can wonder about the quality/price ratio.
Especially since the entrance fee does not include parking (6€ on weekdays and 12€ on weekends). The beach day can therefore quickly become expensive, especially if you choose to go with your family.
We also regret the extra charge of 1€ if you want to be served your drink on your deckchair. Considering the prices at the entrance, we could hope that the waiter comes to us… In short, better to go and order directly at the bar.
Another drawback: the beach is very large. There are hundreds of deckchairs and parasols. On weekends, the place is very crowded, the atmosphere is noisy and not very relaxing.
Finally, the restaurant service is disappointing for a beach that wants to be so luxurious: salads that do not look good, pizzas, some snacks. In short, nothing exceptional.
In conclusion
A beautiful beach, clear water but high prices and no tranquility on weekends.
If you have some time, explore the area and you will probably find a sea as beautiful, without having to pay. So bring some water and an umbrella!
