The archaeological site of Mycenae is a must-see on any trip to the Peloponnese. Located a hundred kilometers south-west of Athens, it’s a truly exceptional place.
You’ll find explanatory panels on the archaeological site in Greek and English, but they’re not very easy to understand. As for private guides to show you around the site, there aren’t many of them, so there aren’t many English-speaking guides to visit Mycenae. And yet, what a shame to visit this extraordinary place without understanding its significance!
So we asked archaeologist Mania F. to help us out, and we’ve put together a readable guide to Mycenae to help you discover and appreciate this archaeological site.
This guide to Mycenae, with 3D illustrations and a tour map, has really been designed to give you the keys to understanding this unique site. Practical, it exists in downloadable Pdf format (5€). For more information and to order, simply click on one of the button:

This guide to Mycenae was entirely designed and written by the Live Athens team, in collaboration with Mania F., archaeologist. We’ve created what we’d like to have found when visiting the site of Mycenae: a small, clear and comprehensive 27-page book.
We chose to take a global approach to the site, and to focus on the historical aspect, of course. But also the mythology and legends associated with Mycenae, and the context of its discovery in modern times.
The many illustrations make for easy reading, and the ancient world will suddenly seem surprisingly familiar.
