Do you need to rent a car to get around Zakynthos?
The answer is yes! If you’re planning a vacation in Zakynthos, you should definitely consider renting a motorbike or car. There’s no better way to get around the island and discover all it has to offer.
Having your own vehicle means you can get around independently, at your own pace, and discover the island’s superb beaches at your leisure. There’s a lot to see and do in Zante and without a car or scooter, you won’t be able to enjoy it, which would be such a shame.
Is it easy to drive in Zante?
Honestly, having rented a car and driven on the spot even though I’m not an ace driver, I can tell you: no particular difficulties. Most roads are tarmac and fairly well maintained, and driving rules are identical to those in France.
Be careful, though, as locals tend to drive fast and don’t always respect the right-of-way rules. If you’re on a motorcycle, wear a helmet (it may seem obvious to you, but in Greece many two-wheeler drivers don’t wear helmets… or hold them in their hands while driving).
Car or motorbike? The choice is yours. Zante is very suitable for two-wheelers, so there’s no problem if you prefer this option.
How can I find an agency to rent a car or motorcycle in Zakynthos?
There are several local and international rental agencies in Zakynthos. Personally, to rent a vehicle, we always go to the RentalCars platform, as it allows us to compare different offers in just a few clicks. How much does it cost to rent a car in Zakynthos?
Rates depend on a number of factors: when you come (high or low season), the type of vehicle, its size, the number of days.
On average, you can expect to pay around 30 euros a day in low season for a small car. At the height of summer, prices rise rapidly, easily reaching €100-150/day.
Motorcycles are more affordable.
