The island of Paxos is small but teeming with best addresses in Paxos. The terraces of tavernas, cafes and bars are very pleasant, and you’ll never tire of the simple, friendly Greek atmosphere that lasts well into the night. Here we recommend the best addresses in Paxos that we have loved and appreciated.
Best restaurants, cafes and bars in Gaios, Paxos
Gaios’ central square comes alive in the evening. Of course, there are cafes and tavernas all over town, as well as small vendors selling painted pebbles and local entertainment. We loved strolling through the streets and stores, admiring the marina and the many luxury yachts parked in the port.
- Mambo: on the port, this taverna serves typical Greek dishes. Don’t miss the shrimp saganaki, and the delicious stuffed squid.
- Giros paxon: as the name suggests, a seller of unpretentious Giros Pita. A very generous Giros pita for less than 5 euros, the kids love it (and so do we), it’s smooth and we’re happy!
- Fanalino Restaurant Bar: set back from the harbour promenade, this small restaurant serves home-cooked food and delicious breakfasts.
- Porto Vecchio: on the walk, a little way from the center, this bar is ideal for a drink before or after dinner. What’s more, it’s shaded and offers a relaxed atmosphere and good music.
- Pizzeria Il Primo: the island’s Italian influences are reflected in the local cuisine. There are many pizzerias on the island. We recommend this one, which makes good wood-fired pizzas.
- Il cappriccio: For good ice cream. For those with a sweet tooth, you can add a multitude of toppings!
- In Gaios, olive oil: Don’t miss the olive oil vendor on the port, selling olive oil pressed on the island. The store is still very much in its original state.
Restaurants with a view in Paxos
If you want to enjoy the view over the island, we recommend you take a little height.
- The Averto restaurant in Magazia: features a terrace with a breathtaking view of olive groves and the sea.
- Erimitis: incredible view of the cliffs. Restaurant: a little disappointing, but very good for a drink. The terrace faces west and you can enjoy a lovely sunset.
- Ben’s bar: on Monodendri beach (Manadentri), overlooking the beach. Superb view, music, juices and cocktails. Beware, the bill rises quickly!
Restaurant in the small port of Loggos
The little port of Loggos is delightful. Here you can see the departure of pleasure boats. Numerous taverns line the port. We recommend Taverna O Yios, which serves traditional dishes. Ask for the special of the day, we were not disappointed!
Some good addresses in Lakka
In Lakka, you’ll find all the amenities you need: cash dispenser, pharmacy, mini-market (prefer the more local one at the entrance to the village) and a good bakery in the town center. Here are the best restaurants in Paxos, Lakka.
- Mandi’s: if you want to get away from it all, this tavern at the end of the harbor, on the fishing port side, offers a very pleasant setting with a view over the town and very good value for money.
- Stasinos: a small, traditional, family-run restaurant set in a pretty, flower-filled courtyard.
