buy your Acropolis ticket online

Online reservations and skip-the-line tickets for the Acropolis? There are now several solutions for purchasing your tickets for the Acropolis online:

  • Civitatis: A user-friendly site that allows you to buy your full-price, non-refundable ticket.
  • Get Your Guide: a site offering online ticket purchases for the Acropolis, for a few extra euros compared to the official site. The advantage: the reservation process is very easy, and, most importantly, tickets can be canceled free of charge and fully refunded up to 24 hours before the visit.
  • the official website of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, which also allows you to purchase your Acropolis tickets online. The advantage: the lowest price. Disadvantages: the site is not very user-friendly, and the tickets are neither cancellable nor modifiable.

Good to know…

In all three cases, the online purchase of Acropolis tickets only applies to full-price tickets. Indeed, only these tickets are available on the internet. Participants of all ages can use this type of ticket for entry at the full price. However, please note that children aged 0 to 5 and EU citizens aged 6 to 24 can enter with a free ticket. To benefit from the free rate, it is necessary to go to the ticket office to obtain a special printed ticket (see our article on practical tips for visiting the Acropolis).

Please note that since September 2023, it is required to purchase your entrance tickets for the Acropolis in advance. In an effort to regulate the number of visits and the flow of visitors to the site, you must reserve a date and time slot to visit the Parthenon and the Acropolis of Athens. While you may not be the only ones who have planned ahead by purchasing your ticket online, you will still have to wait at the entrance, albeit less than at the ticket counter for on-site purchases!

1 – Buy your tickets for the Acropolis online on the Civitatis website

This first solution is, in our opinion, the simplest. Firstly, the site is user-friendly and there is no confusion among various options since there is only one choice available. It’s worth noting that the ticket is neither exchangeable nor refundable.

2- Purchase your tickets for the Acropolis on the Get Your Guide website

The online platform Get Your Guide also offers entrance tickets to visit the Acropolis. The reservation is easy, and the payment is secure. Subsequently, your tickets are sent to you electronically. You don’t even need to print the ticket; it can be displayed and scanned at the entrance of the site from your mobile phone or tablet. Of course, if you prefer, you can print your tickets.

Drawback: the price is slightly higher than on the official site (24.5€ instead of 20€ for the summer rate).

Advantages: the Get Your Guide website has two advantages: has two advantages: 1/ online reservation is very easy; 2/ the tickets are 100% cancellable and fully refundable up to 24 hours before the visit.

3- Book your tickets for the Acropolis online on the official website

The official website of the Greek Ministry of Culture offers the option to purchase tickets online at the same rate as those available at the entrance of the site (no additional cost). However, this site only allows you to generate full-price tickets, and you will still need to go to the ‘fast lane’ ticket counter for reduced rates or free tickets.

This site is available in Greek or English. The process is explained below.

Another downside: the tickets are neither changeable nor refundable.

How to order your tickets for the Acropolis online on the official website?

  • In the first place, visit the Hellenic Heritage e-ticket website, and select the English version (‘EN’)
  • Then, you can choose the region and the archaeological site you are interested in, such as the Acropolis, Heraklion Museum, Knossos, etc. For the Acropolis, select the ‘Attica & Central Greece’ region, then ‘Acropolis and Slope‘. Combined tickets (Acropolis-Agora-Keiramikos…) are available at a later stage; also, choose ‘Acropolis and Slope’.
  • Still at Step 1, you can choose the date and time slot for your visit. The time slot is indicative, but the date is fixed and cannot be changed. You cannot visit on another day. However, if you purchase a combined ticket, you have 5 days to visit the sites, providing more flexibility

The second step (Step 2) of the reservation involves selecting your ticket. Here too, a few additional explanations are provided.

Single or combined ticket

  • “Single Use”: single entry to the Acropolis
  • “Combined”: includes admission to the Acropolis, the Ancient Agora, Keramikos, Hadrian’s Library, the Roman Agora, the Olympeion and Lyceum of Aristotle. You have 5 days to visit the sites from the first visit.

Free admission

Admission is free for children under 25 years of age who are members of the EU and for EU students. Additionally,, admission to the Acropolis is free on the following days: the first Sunday of each month from November 1 to March 31, October 28, April 18, May 18, the last weekend in September and March 6.

Free tickets can be obtained up directly at the Acropolis box office, upon presentation of a receipt. They are not available online. If you are accompanying someone with a “free entry”,you can use the ‘fast lane’ entrance, where you only need to present your receipt.

Reduced rate

Reduced fares are available for students, children, non-EU members under 25 and EU members over 65.

For reduced-rate tickets, it says “reduced”. If you select this rate, you will then be asked for your status. Please note that these cannot be edited directly online. You’ll need to go to the ticket office (at the fast-lane queue) with proof of your “status” and your reservation number.

Full price: an all-inclusive ticket to visit the Acropolis

Only the full-price tickets are truly “skip-the-line” tickets for the Acropolis. In fact, they are editable in pdf format and can be presented either on paper or directly on your smartphone. So they’re a real time-saver when it comes to visiting the Acropolis.
