Fred Chesneau's restaurant in Greece, on the island of Paros : Stou Fred

Fred Chesneau combines two of my passions: gastronomy and travel. For several years now, I have been assiduously watching his documentaries dedicated to cooking, shot all over the world. So when I heard he was opening his first restaurant, on the Greek island of Paros no less, I rushed over. And I was not disappointed!

To have the chance to taste its dishes, we advise you to make a reservation in advance: Reservations online.

Fred Chesneau settles in Paros, his favorite Greek island

After twelve years of culinary exploration for Canal +, Fred Chesneau, nicknamed the “Globe-Cooker”, has chosen to set down his suitcases (or rather his pots and pans) on the island of Paros, in the Cyclades, and to open his very first restaurant there. He has since opened another one in Paris.

Why did you choose Paros ? Simply because Fred has been madly in love with this island for over twenty years.

His restaurant is called “Stou Fred” (which means “Chez Fred” in Greek).

At Fred’s

As soon as you enter the Stou Fred restaurant, you feel instantly at ease. We are welcomed by Fred Chesneau, smiling and warm, surrounded by his team.

For this new adventure, the Globe-Cooker has imagined a chic and sober, intimate and elegant place. Thus, the decoration is refined and cosmopolitan, a mixture of Moroccan riad, Mexican hacienda and Cycladic villa. A fresh and calm garden where white and vegetal dominate. The tables are set in a lovely courtyard where olive trees, vines and Mediterranean plants are planted. The place has charm and is particularly peaceful.

Moreover, the background music is pleasant. As for the staff, they are adorable and warm, while being professional. We felt pampered.

The world tour (culinary) in 80 minutes

Fred Chesneau’s wish is to share with his guests the recipes he has gleaned from his life as a cook without borders. He serves us his favorites and offers us the best of each country he has visited.

The principle is simple: a unique and cosmopolitan menu, composed of a starter, three courses and a dessert (65 euros – price 2022). The menu changes every week and is inspired by the chef’s various travels. We do not choose, we let ourselves be carried and it is very well so (attention, the menu is not suitable for the vegetarians and is not adapted to the children).

From the first bite, it’s a delicious gourmet odyssey. That evening, we started with Greece with a succulent tarama as an appetizer. Then we flew to Asia with subtly scented spring rolls. A detour through Japan and Italy before heading to Bali and landing softly in Denmark for dessert.

Each dish has a story: a recipe was given to Fred Chesneau by a Japanese chef married to an Italian woman, the dessert is a tribute to one of his family members of Danish origin, etc.

The cuisine is fine and fragrant; the atmosphere pleasant. Stou Fred is a beautiful address, to be recommended to all the fine gourmets passing through Paros.

The restaurant is only open during the summer months (June to September). In the winter, Fred Chesneau heads back to Paris and starts shooting “Paris du Globe-Cooker” again, a show that has been a great success.

As a bonus

Finally, if you are on vacation in Paros, take the opportunity to relax on the beautiful beaches of the island. Discover it here.

Enjoy your meal!
