2- How do I get to Rhodes?

By plane

Rhodes is well served by air. There are several daily connections between Athens and Rhodes all year round. As well as direct flights from various French and Belgian cities in summer. And low-cost ones in particular.

By boat

You can reach Rhodes by boat from Athens. Depending on the season, there are one to three crossings a day. But it’s a long way to go. Allow between 12h and 24h for the crossing. If possible, opt for a night crossing.

For timetables and prices of the various crossings, we recommend the Ferry Hopper website . This online platform has the advantage of being easy to use, with a French interface. And above all, no additional fees or commissions. This makes it possible to buy tickets online at the best market price.

Rhodes is also linked by boat to the other Dodecanese islands of Kos, Symi, Kalymnos, Leros, Patmos and Halki. There are also links to Santorini.

3- What’s the best time of year to go on vacation in Rhodes?

You can go on vacation to Rhodes at any time of year. It really is an island that can be visited all year round. It’s even more pleasant out of season than in high summer (we speak from experience, having been there at different times of the year).

In winter

Rhodes is one of the few Greek islands that are pleasant to visit in winter. It enjoys a mild, dry climate. The big advantage is that it’s less crowded out of season. And that means attractive accommodation rates. As the island isn’t just a seaside resort, you’ll have no trouble walking around, sightseeing and finding things to do.

In summer

If you want to laze on the beaches and enjoy the island’s seaside atmosphere, choose the summer months. The sea is warm and there are plenty of water sports on offer:  sea kayakingstand-up paddle, or scuba diving, for ride fans windsurfing or kite surfing even Wing Foiling; and for thrill-seekers, jet skiwakeboardflyboard-hoverboard or parasailing… Treat yourself – that’s what vacations are all about!

Be careful, though, as Rhodes is very crowded in July and August. You won’t be alone on the beaches. And prices are rising fast. It can also be very hot, making visits less pleasant.

Spring vacations in Rhodes

Spring is a very pleasant time to visit Rhodes. The island is full of flowers and not yet too crowded. Temperatures are mild. The island is then covered with poppies and daisies. The colors are splendid.

In autumn

Autumn is also a very pleasant time to go on vacation to Rhodes. In September-October, you can still go swimming, as the sea is warm and temperatures are still mild. There are far fewer people than in high summer. This allows you to visit in peace.

The towns and beaches of the east coast, including Lindos and Faliraki, are linked by boat to the port of Mandraki.

By bus

Several buses serve the island. There are two bus stations in Rhodes town. KTEL serves the east of the island. It is located in Piazza Rimini, next to the new market. The RODA company serves the western part of Rhodes and is located in rue Averof. Timetables are available from the tourist office. We also recommend this multi-stop bus very practical.
