Rhodes is a very popular tourist island, welcoming thousands of visitors every year. There is a wide variety of accommodation on the island, to suit all tastes and budgets. Luxury hotels, youth hostels, large resorts… whatever your expectations, you’re sure to find accommodation that suits you.
Here’s our advice on where to stay and where to stay in Rhodes.
Accommodation in medieval Rhodes
If you’re looking for a charming place to stay in Rhodes, we’d definitely recommend the old town. It’s beautiful, and staying here makes it easy to get around, while being close to the main tourist attractions.
The old town also boasts numerous restaurants for evening dining, as well as bars and clubs for partying.
Another advantage: some beaches are within walking distance.
And it’s very convenient for getting around and visiting the island, as the bus routes that criss-cross the island leave from Rhodes town.
The drawback: Most hotels are not directly accessible by cab, as the old town is pedestrianized. Your driver will get you as close as possible, but then you’ll have to walk and roll your suitcases through the cobbled streets.
Please note that the establishments in the medieval town have limited capacity. Book early.

Spend the night in modern Rhodes
The modern city of Rhodes has much less character than the old town, but prices are more affordable. And you can reach your hotel by car/taxi (unlike the old town, which is pedestrianized).
In short, a practical choice.
Choose a hotel in Rhodes by the sea
If you’re looking for a seaside atmosphere, you’re spoilt for choice. In Rhodes, there are many resorts and establishments located directly by the sea.
There’s something for every price range, from inexpensive all-inclusives to large, luxurious resorts.
Most of the large hotel complexes are located around Faliraki and on the east coast of Rhodes.
A practical choice for families, with many establishments offering kid-friendly aquatic facilities.
Personally, we chose the Hotel Mitsis Alila, a beautiful seaside resort offering excellent services and family rooms. We were very pleased.

Sleep in Rhodes, in the town of Lindos
Lindos is also an interesting choice for accommodation in Rhodes. The village is very beautiful. It also boasts a lively nightlife, with numerous bars and restaurants. And two beautiful beaches are within walking distance.
However, hotel supply is limited, so booking is essential in high season.
The inconvenient: Be careful when booking online. After all, many hotels have the word “Lindos” in their name… but they’re not necessarily located in Lindos itself. Remember to check the location on a map before booking.

Sleep in Rhodes off the beaten track
Want to avoid the tourist crowds in Rhodes? There are still some peaceful spots on the island. But to find them, avoid the overbuilt north and settle south of Rhodes. In the villages of Gennadi and Lahania, for example.
They may be out of the way, but they have the advantage of being quiet and offering less expensive accommodation. It’s an excellent choice for lovers of tranquillity. And it allows you to discover a different face of the island, far from the big tourist resorts.
Alternatively, high-altitude villages are also a good option. They’re cool in summer and quiet. Embona or Monolithos are pleasant vacation spots.
