We get a lot of inquiries about how to rent a boat in Greece. So we investigated and very quickly heard a name that came up several times: Click&Boat. And as we’re used to testing everything, we made up our own minds by testing the booking and renting a boat.
In Greece, the land of the sea, boats and rental companies are plentiful. Because discovering the Greek islands from a sailboat or motorboat is one of the best experiences we’ve ever had.
Nevertheless, renting a boat in Greece is not always easy. The offer is quite heterogeneous, and it’s not always easy to get a clear idea of the service on offer and the final price to pay. Bad experiences are legion in travel forums. That’s why we’re sharing our experience with Click&Boat.
Click&Boat a serious company
Click&Boat is a French company, created and managed by people with a passion for the sea. The principle is simple. The company puts boat rental companies in touch with those who want to take advantage of their vacations to go boating. But the platform doesn’t just put people in touch with each other. The company also offers its experience, service and guarantees to ensure that your stay goes smoothly and becomes an unforgettable experience.
Boat rental from the islands, Athens, Volos…
The company offers its services all over the world, but its range of boat rentals in Greece is particularly rich and varied.
The largest bases are located near Athens, in the ports of Alimos and Lavriou. They have the double advantage of being easily accessible from Athens airport and of quickly serving many beautiful islands. For example, the nearby islands of the Saronic Gulf, Aegina, Agistri and Hydra.
But it’s also the starting point for the famous Cyclades with their white houses and blue shutters. Close to the mainland are Kea, Kythnos and, further afield, Sifnos and Milos. For the more remote Cyclades, such as Santorini, you can also depart from the ports of Mykonos, Paros, Folegandros or Syros.
Click and Boat also offers boat rentals in Corfu and Lefkada for a holiday on the beautiful islands of the Ionian Sea.
For the Sporades, departures are mainly from Volos on the mainland or from the island of Skiathos.
Finally, for the Dodecanese, the ports of Kos and Rhodes offer the most boats for charter.
Rent a boat in Greece… yes, but which boat?
Sailboats, catamarans, powerboats… all sizes are available. Simply tick the type of boat you want on the website. If your main criterion is the size of the boat, you can also select the number of cabins and/or berths.
You can also opt for a skipper or skipperless option. Whether you’re a seasoned navigator or a novice, you’re sure to find what you’re looking for.
How do I book a boat in Greece?
For your boat rental in Greece on their Click&Boat website, the booking process is simple and consists of three steps:
- Boat selection: the site is ultra-easy to use. Multiple criteria allow you to refine your selection: location, number of people, type of boat, dates…. This first step gives you an overview of the offer and rates.
- Contact: Once you’ve made your selection, you can contact the boat owner to ask for more details. All you have to do is create a free account. An advisor dedicated to your sailing project will accompany you throughout the booking process and prior to the organization of your cruise. What’s more, they can also tell you what would be best for you, depending on the size of your family, the age of your children…
- Booking: after the exchange, the quote is approved and you can book, sign the contract and pay online.
My yacht charter experience in Greece
Three times I have rented boats with Click&Boat. Twice, boats without a license on the island of Agistri and in Nea Makri near Athens, and once a boat requiring a motor license in Paxos.
All three times, the experiment was conclusive. I was reassured on the following 3 points:
- Hirers’ welcome: the hirers were always on hand to explain how to proceed.
- Online payment: with online payment, there’s no need to pay anything extra to the rental company (apart from petrol), and no nasty surprises either.
- Boat quality: no worries about the boats, all in excellent condition. The fact that the boat is insured (the company guarantees it) is a real relief, so you don’t have to worry if something goes wrong.
In short, I won’t hesitate to call on them next time. Why not cruise the Ionian Islands on a sailboat with a skipper?
