How to get to Kimolos – practical information
By boat
There are direct connections from Piraeus, where you can take your car with you. Allow between 5 and 6 hours for the journey.
You can also come from Milos, either via the main port of Adamentas, or via Pollonia (just across the road with the Kimolos link ferry Osia Methodia).
For reservations, we recommend you visit our partner’s website Ferry Hopper which offers standard market prices, secure online payment and efficient after-sales service.
By plane
You can also take advantage of Milos airport, which offers direct connections from a number of European airports. Alternatively, you can change in Athens for Milos, before taking the boat back to Kimolos. Take the opportunity to discover Milos a large and beautiful island in the Cyclades. To find your flight, we recommend Greek company Aegean Airlines.
Where to stay in Kimolos?
The island is small and offers very little accommodation. In recent years, however, the island’s inhabitants have taken advantage of the tourism boom to open studios, houses and bed & breakfasts.
In particular, we recommend accommodation in small fishermen’s cottages overlooking the beach. They’re simple, uncluttered, incredible. Here is one on Booking : The Elephant Beach House.
You can find a lot of accomodations offers on Booking or on the tourist office website.
Don’t hesitate to stay in the Chorio. So you can enjoy the evening entertainment.
Where to eat in Kimolos?
- Kiklades: a tiny tavern, a few tables in the street. Here you can enjoy local specialities, cooked to perfection.
- Avli tou samplou: in a lively square. Ideal location for those with children, as the play area adjoins the terrace.
- To Raventi: an ice-cream and pastry shop on the port. Superb cakes and delicious homemade ice creams. Deckchairs on the beach, you can even go for a swim after you’ve had your fill!
- Sardis next to Aliki beach. Unpretentious tavern with large shaded terrace. Ladia (local specialties, similar to pizzas) are well prepared.
To sail around Kimolos and Poliegos
For the more adventurous, and weather permitting, you can hire a small boat. It can be ridden by 4-6 people, and no permit is required. The owner will demonstrate a few maneuvers in the harbor before setting off. We recommend PolarisRent or Click&Boat.
Alternatively, at the harbor, you can ask Evangelos Vamvakaris for information on excursions.
