If you’re wondering where to stay in Ios, there are several options to suit your needs and desires. Here are a few tips we hope will help you prepare for your vacation.

If you want to party, choose to sleep on Ios – Chora

Ios-town, more commonly known as Chora, has the advantage of being a central and convenient place to get around. Most of the island’s buses leave from here. It’s also the ideal place to party, and a must for nightlife. Indeed, Chora’s alleyways are packed with bars and nightclubs.

Clearly, if you’re in the mood to party, Chora is the place to be.

But if you’re looking for a quiet vacation, avoid sleeping on Ios in the Chora itself. There’s noise from midnight until dawn. On the other hand, the establishments slightly away from the center of Chora are quiet, and the advantage is that the village is still within walking distance.

Francesco’s Youth Hostel is the perfect place to be at the heart of the party. This youth hostel is located in the heart of Chora, just a stone’s throw from the bars and clubs. A choice of dormitory or budget rooms. A friendly atmosphere, as this hostel welcomes young people from all over the world, and the bar is busy until the early hours. As a bonus, there’s a swimming pool.
Ios Resort: perfectly located in Chora, just a few minutes’ walk from discotheques and tavernas. Friendly staff, shuttle service from the port, lovely pool with a Zen atmosphere.
If you want to stay in Chora, but in a peaceful atmosphere, then opt for Hotel Avanti. It’s very close to Chora (5 minutes’ walk), but a little out of the way, so it’s very quiet. You won’t hear the music. What’s more, the hotel has a beautiful view and a pleasant swimming pool. An excellent choice for a vacation on Ios!

For a waterfront vacation on Ios, opt for Mylopotas

Mylopotas is a good option for sleeping on Ios. Mylopotas Beach is famous as one of the best beaches on the island, and it’s easy to see why: a 1.5km stretch of fine sand, in the shape of an arc, bordered by crystal-clear waters. It has the feel of a seaside resort, and you’ll find everything you need on site. In particular, there are many hotels on the seafront or in the immediate vicinity of the beach.

FarOut Camping & Beach club: This campsite is ideal for budget travelers, as it’s conveniently located right on the beach. And perfectly equipped, including a beautiful swimming pool. Young, lively atmosphere at the end of the day.
More family-friendly and very quiet, we recommend the Island House hotel. Clean and modern, it’s a 2-minute walk from Mylopotas beach. Home-made, tasty and hearty breakfast. Helpful staff. We stayed there for 5 nights and were delighted. A very good place to stay on Ios.
And if you feel like treating yourself, don’t hesitate to choose Hide Out Suites hotel. A magical place! Big favorite. The location, the view, the refined Cycladic decor… everything is absolutely perfect!

There are also a few Airbnb accommodations in Mylopotas. In particular, we have identified the following for our next stay the Theros apartments which offer a lovely view of the beach, as well as this beach house a little rustic, but typically Greek.

Where to stay on Ios for a peaceful vacation?

If you’re in the mood for a quiet vacation, we recommend staying at Gialos (or Yalos), the port of Ios. The atmosphere is calm and pleasant, away from the hustle and bustle of the night. It’s also very convenient: the village of Gialos is well served by bus, Gialos beach is within walking distance and there’s a good choice of tavernas for evening meals.

Some addresses in Gialos:

SeaBreeze Hotel Ios: This hotel enjoys a quiet location just a hundred meters from Gialos beach. It has a lot going for it: lovely views, spacious rooms, friendly staff, a beautiful infinity pool and good breakfasts. A good option for sleeping in Ios.
Yialos Hotel: this hotel is well located, close to both the port of Gialos and the beach. Pleasant swimming pool, tastefully decorated. A friendly hotel.

Manganari is also a prime location for a quiet vacation. A little isolated, but the beach is superb. There are several nice Airbnb. In particular, we spotted Manganari Moments 1, Manganari Moments 2 and Manganari Moments 3: tastefully decorated Cycladic houses right on the beach.
