Hidden in a small street of Monastiraki, TAF, The Art Foundation, is an art-cafe that is worth a visit. You will quickly be seduced by the originality of the place.
In the heart of Monastiraki…
You have probably passed by the TAF entrance several times without even noticing it. Indeed, it is better to have the eye to detect this unusual place. It is located at number 5 of Normanou Street, a perpendicular to Ermou Street. A very small door, surmounted by a balcony a little faded and next to a seller of antiques, you are there. The round logo, composed of a multitude of geometric shapes, is the only indication of the place.
TAF, The Art Foundation
TAF is above all a place of culture and arts. Here, there are always new exhibitions and the different rooms that make up the space are conducive to diversity and multiplicity. TAF was created in 2009. Since then, it constitutes a neuralgic center of the Athenian artistic production.
The inner courtyard of this place has been coveredwhile preserving a space for the trees that stand in the center. Around it, old brick houses are articulated, forming as many empty cells, used for exhibitions. On the first floor, a more modern and spacious space has been fitted out and hosts contemporary works of art resolutely anchored in the present world. TAF offers a rich program all year long, which you can find on the agenda.
TAF, for a drink
The central courtyard has been converted into a friendly space. A huge bar serves coffee, alcoholic beverages and snacks throughout the afternoon and until 9pm at night.
The atmosphere is special because it is both intimate and warm. This is the image of this artistic movement, definitely turned towards sharing and creation. The contrast is all the more striking that this authenticity contrasts radically with the ultra-touristic streets of the surroundings. Lovers of unusual and original works, this place is really made for you.
