Rent a house in Tinos: the villa of Socrates and Myriam
Socrates is Greek (as his first name suggests). And Myriam is French, who became Greek for love over twenty years ago. Both have fallen in love with Tinos, the Cycladic island they cherish and where they take refuge whenever they can to savor moments of happiness with their families.
They bought Villa Elia in December 2011, a house with clean lines and typical Tinos architecture, which they completely renovated and tastefully decorated in keeping with its Cycladic style.
With their characteristic generosity, Myriam and Socrate are eager to share their tiniote cocoon.
Don’t hesitate to contact them.
Villa Elia: rent a house on Tinos with your feet in the water
This house in Tinos is located in Giannaki Bay, on the island’s southwest coast. It’s just 30 meters from a quiet, uncrowded beach (even in summer, a rare pleasure in the Cyclades). With the added bonus of two traditional taverns on the bay, offering good local produce and accessible from the house in just a few minutes on foot.
The location is also ideal for exploring the rest of the island. Villa Elia is located below the pretty village of Kardiani, just 12 kilometers from Chora, the capital of Tinos.

How to get to Villa Elia
The villa is located in the bay of Giannaki, southwest of the island of Tinos (Google Maps).
You can get to Tinos from :
- Athens: the island is served from the ports of Piraeus and Rafina. The latter is very conveniently located close to Athens international airport (you can get there by bus or cab). In summer, there are several departures a day. The crossing takes 1h45-2h by hydrofoil or 3h-4h by ferry, depending on the port of call. From the port of Piraeus, the crossing is slightly longer. But the advantage is that the “Piraeus” metro station is opposite the boarding platform for Tinos.

Finally, for more practical information on the various ports from Athens, see this article.
- Mykonos: This neighboring island has an airport served in summer by many planes from Paris and the provinces. From Mykonos, it’s a 20-minute boat ride to Tinos.
Villa Elia is located just ten kilometers from the port of Tinos.
