Vinoteca Athens: an Italian restaurant in Athens

Vinoteca Athens is located just a few steps away from the French Institute of Greece. It is located in a small sloping street with stairs typical of Kolonaki. Its outdoor terrace is very pleasant in summer because it benefits from the light and the calm of the pedestrian street.

Vinoteca: a dive into a warm wine cellar

Upon entering you will be struck by the size of the room which seems endless. But don’t be fooled! This is more an optical effect mastered with the play of mirrors and the horizontality of the wooden boards nicely arranged than reality. Inside, the atmosphere of the wine bar is predominant: a wall of bottles, boards of boxes and a glassed-in wine cellar with excellent wines.

The kitchen is open to the dining room. It is therefore the result of a tempting smell and a certain effervescence. The hyperactivity of the cook goes well with the atmosphere of the place. If you want to be more quiet, prefer the service before 21:30.

The place is standing with a large number of friendly but not always very efficient staff: waiter, receptionist, oenologist. The small attentions are very appreciable: fresh bread and exceptional olive oil, appetizers.

Short and original map, inspired by the Mediterranean

The menu is relatively short, with only twenty dishes.

Very nice starters, original in the association of flavors : squid-mushrooms, beef-asparagus, smoked duck-Fontana cheese … with each time a splendid presentation that delights the eyes.

For the main course, it’s more classic. Often a base for pasta, risotto or gnocchi. But we find originality in the choice of ingredients: guinea fowl, scampi, clams, ceps…

A nice list of local and international wines, by the glass or by the bottle, which the oenologist will help you choose.

Vinoteca Athens: the price of standing

This treat has a significant price. Indeed, it is necessary to count between 10 and 15 euros for the entries, between 20 and 25 euros for the dishes. As for the wine, the bottles are worth between 30 and 40 euros. The dishes are generous, and some diners practice the sharing of appetizers like in taverns.

It’s best to make a reservation at this trendy restaurant because it seems to be a great success. And it only has about sixty seats.
