Amorgos is a beautiful island, with a raw charm that leaves no one indifferent. There are a few good hotels… but some of them can be nasty surprises (as some of our friends and family have experienced). We therefore only recommend establishments that have been tested and recommended by ourselves or by close friends as good places to stay in Amorgos. There’s not a lot of accommodation on the island, so for a high-season stay, it’s best to book well in advance.
Sleeping in Katapola
If you don’t have a vehicle, the best option is certainly to stay in Katapola. This is where most ferries land, and all buses stop. What’s more, you’ll be able to take advantage of the lively harbor, and you’ll easily find what you need to eat. And caiques will take you to the beaches.
We particularly recommend :
- The Big Blue guesthouse located 300m from the beach
- If you’re looking for accommodation with a sea view, we recommend 400m from the port, Kaerati Apartments
- the Pension Barbara enjoys a good reputation
- the Hotel Minoa is also renowned
- Amorgos Pearls (2 pers.): a house ideally located in Katapola, near the port and just 30 m from the beach. Well appointed.
- Kaerati Apartments, cycladic home with view on the port of Katapola
Finally, you’ll also find a selection of hotels and guesthouses here on the Booking website.
Sleeping in Aegiali
If you’re looking for a place to stay in Amorgos and prefer a more seaside atmosphere, then opt for Aigiali, in the north of the island. Here you’ll find comfortable hotels, sandy beaches and a lively nightlife.
Here are some suggestions for hotels in Aegiali.
We stayed at Akrogiali Studios in Aegiali. The apartments are small, simple, clean and well-equipped. Very good value for money. Within walking distance of cafés and tavernas in the center and the beach. A little plus: the balcony with sea view.
Sleeping in the village of Chora
Another option is to choose a hotel in Chora.
The village is full of charm and has managed to remain authentic. Here are a few hotel ideas.
