Aegina is conveniently located near Athens, just a short ferry ride away from Piraeus. While it’s possible to make a day trip, we highly recommend spending at least one night on Aegina to fully experience all that the island has to offer. here’s our advice on where to stay in Aegina
Our best places to stay in Aegina
Here’s a list of the best accommodations that we’ve tried out personally, that have been recommended to us by close friends, or that we’ve simply put on our “whishlist” of upcoming destinations. We usually use Booking which offer a great deal, generally well-priced and above all very practical.
Port of Aegina
Afaia houses: Very convenient, close to shops, the port and the sea. Comfortable, unpretentious and inexpensive house for up to 6 people.
Pyrgos Ralli Estate Apartments and Suites: Small, quiet apartments and studios close to town (1km) and Kolona beach (300m). They are set in a lovely Mediterranean garden with lemon, olive and fig trees. Anthe will make you feel very welcome.
Aegina’s Oasis: Less than a 10-minute walk from the town center and 700m from the beach, this charming 2-bedroom, air-conditioned, tastefully decorated house also boasts a superb garden.
Perdika
Marathona’s Apartment: Excellent value for money for this comfortable 2-bedroom apartment close to the beach.
Therma
The Beachhouse Apartments: During our first stay in Aegina, we stayed in this little corner of paradise. We had just arrived in Greece and were charmed by this accommodation located at the foot of the sea. Since then, they’ve been renovated (and prices have gone up…). But we fell in love!
Aghia Marina
Erato Hotel: Charming hotel with swimming pool, 150 m from the beach. Rooms do not have kitchens, but breakfast is included.

Egine offers a wide range of accommodation options: hotels, rooms for rent, small apartments or studios and even pretty villas and houses with breathtaking views.
Before you start looking, make sure you know where you want to stay in Aegina. Here are a few guidelines to help you choose.
- In the port of Aegina. Very convenient for arriving by boat. The port is a lively place, with many tavernas for evening meals and small shops for shopping.
- In Perdika, about 8km from the port. This traditional fishing port is particularly attractive in the evening. Indeed, numerous taverns and bars line the promenade. What’s more, its location offers a magnificent sunset over the nearby islands.
- On the seafront at Aghia Marina, ideal for a seaside vacation on a sandy beach, very suitable for families. However, the bay has been somewhat damaged by unauthorized construction.
- Inland, there are some magnificent villas for rent. If you opt for this solution, it’s essential that you have a means of transport for your supplies.
