Milos is one of our favorite islands in Greece. We’ve been there several times and never getting tired of it. It’s an island with fabulous scenery and lots to see and do. The beaches are superb and the little villages absolutely adorable. A guaranteed favorite.

If you’re planning a vacation there, you may be wondering whether to rent a car or scooter in Milos, and if so, where and how to go about it. Here’s our practical advice.

How to get around? Do I need to rent a car or scooter in Milos?

To discover the island of Milos, we strongly recommend renting a vehicle: a car, scooter or quad bike. This will enable you to be self-sufficient and take full advantage of all the best this island has to offer.

If you don’t have a car, you’ll soon be limited in terms of exploring the island: there aren’t many buses, and at the height of the season they’re overcrowded. What’s more, they don’t go everywhere on the island. As for cabs, there are very few compared with demand. In short, it’s best to rent a car or scooter in Milos. Even a quad bike is handy.

You’ll have no trouble driving there:

roads are good
the signs are in Greek but also in English
the most popular tourist spots are well signposted
there are service stations all over the island

How do I rent a car or scooter in Milos?

What type of vehicle should I choose?

If you want a car: choose a small model. A city car will do just fine, or a small 4×4. Distances aren’t great and you won’t be traveling many kilometers.
If you prefer to rent a scooter in Milos: this means of transport is well-suited to the island, giving you total freedom of movement both in town and on the less car-accessible tracks leading to the beaches.
As for quad biking, it’s a popular choice in Milos. It’s true that it’s practical… but be careful and respect the safety rules.

What is the budget for car rental in Milos?

For a small car, in low season, expect to pay between €30 and €40 per day. At the height of summer, prices rise and you’ll need to budget for an average of €100 per day.
