Where to stay in Milos?
Adamentas or Adamas
The port is a good place to stay in Milos. Indeed, even if it’s not the most beautiful village on the island, it has many advantages. First, the village is bustling with restaurants, taverns, ice-cream parlours… On the other hand, most of the service providers are in Adamentas (car rental companies, boat tours, ticket offices…). Finally, it’s easy to get to the beach from the port, either on foot or by public transport.
Moreover, accommodation here is slightly more affordable than elsewhere on the island.With its excellent location, we recommend Malion Rooms. Or the more chic Villa Notos. And for those on a budget, Filippos is ideal.
Plaka
Plaka, the island’s central village, is full of charm, but lacks direct, easy access to the sea. There’s not much in the way of accommodation.
However, on Booking, you will find a wide range of accommodation options, including hotels, apartments, and villas. Additionally, Airbnb offers houses for rent, ideal for stays with family or friends. For a stunning view, we recommend Milos Dream Life, located a little further along Triovasalos.
Pollonia
Located in the extreme north-east of the island, the village of Pollonia has much to offer. Situated by the sea, it boasts a pretty beach and a small port. The abundance of bars and restaurants means you don’t have to venture far for an evening meal. Access to the southern beaches, however, takes a bit more time and necessitates rented transportation.
The village boasts a number of attractive boutique hotels: Kapetan Tasos and Delmar Appartment suites. We also recommend Heliotropio Studio and Apartment, which is more accessible and very well located. Last but not least, more chic but absolutely stunning: the 4-star Milos Breeze Boutique Hotel, with its infinity pool and exceptional views.

Where to eat in Milos
Here are some of our favorite restaurants on the island, recommended by locals, and now, having tried and tested them, it’s our turn to share these hidden gems.
In the village of Plaka
Plaka is the island’s main village. Situated on an elevated site, it’s a charming place that comes alive in the late afternoon and especially at sunset. The village is charming but very touristy. It’s not always easy to find a table in the middle of August. Here are some of the best addresses in Milos, tried and tested.
Taverns and restaurants in Plaka
- Our favorite: Phatses. Located a little away from the crowds (below the main square), the tavern overlooks a shady square. The cooks advocate slow food and good produce. We enjoyed a beet-apple salad and a leg of lamb simmered with thyme and honey. The homemade fried potatoes are a treat.
- In the village, the traditional Archontoula tavern. There are no big surprises on the menu, but the essentials are there: family-style cooking with the great Greek classics. In summer, the tavern is packed, and service and food quality sometimes suffer.
Where to have a drink at sunset in Milos?
The village of Plaka is famous for its beautiful sunsets. If you’re feeling sporty, climb up to the Kastro to admire the view. On the other hand, for those who want to enjoy a quiet drink while watching the sun disappear, we recommend two lovely addresses.
- Utopia, a café overlooking the sea, with a lovely terrace. You’ll need to arrive early to get a well-placed table.
- A little further back, next to the Panagia Korphiatissa church, Verina Cocktail & Food Bar also offers a few tables from which to enjoy the view.
To finish on a sweet note…
- The Kokkino Podilato ice-cream parlour offers excellent Kayak ice creams (made in Greece). As well as gourmet waffles. It also offers daytime brunch and pizza.
- And for those craving cakes, try Palaios Coffee and Pastry. Also great for a gourmet coffee break or breakfast.
On the port of Adamantas
A must when arriving on the island by boat, the port of Adamantas offers a wide range of dining options. Here are the addresses we’ve tested and recommend.
- The Aggeliki glacier
- The O Hamos tavern, close to the beach on the road along the coast. An island institution.
Pollonia
Pollonia is a village in the extreme north-east of the island. The village comes alive in the evening, with a pedestrian street lined with restaurants of varying quality. So it’s best not to make a mistake.
- Gyalos, an excellent tavern offering good value for money. The seafood is well prepared.
- For fish, choose the Enalion restaurant.
- If your rental does not include breakfast, go to Kivotos ton Gefseon. It offers not only a patio shaded by a pergola, but above all a superb breakfast. These include the famous galaktoboureko, a traditional custard cake.
Elsewhere on Milos

- Our favorite: the SIROCCO restaurant in Paleochori. Located on the seafront, this restaurant offers modern, tasty Greek cuisine. With the added bonus of “volcanic dishes” cooked on the sand. Impeccable service. The little extra: everything is provided for families (high chairs, coloring books, diapers in all sizes, etc.).
- In the pretty fishing village of Klima, you won’t want to miss the Astakas tavern in the main square.
- Close to the incredible Sarakiniko beach, don’t miss Medusa, located in the village of Mandrakia. In fact, it offers octopus, swordfish, smoked eel… delicious.

Water sports
- On the beaches, you’ll find numerous canoe and kayak rental companies, an excellent way to discover the island’s superb coastline. Among the Sea Kayak rental companies.
- On Paliachori beach, you can book rides in buoys towed by a boat.
- Windsurfing and stand-up paddle.
- Diving. Diving enthusiasts have various choices. For a family-friendly diving experience, opt for a boat trip, allowing you to snorkel around the Kleftiko rocks (Laure has dedicated an entire article to it). If you’re a seasoned diver, the Pollonia diving club might be more to your liking.
Walk

Spa

There are several cultural sites worth visiting on the island of Milos:
