Ithaca is a small Ionian island, a little out of the usual circuits. We really liked this wild and green island. The accommodations are not that numerous. We advise you to book in advance if you wish to go during the summer season (especially August). Here are some suggestions on where to stay in Ithaca.

Choose to sleep in a port: Vathy or Kioni

Both ports are charming and both are good places to stay. Because activities, restaurants, bars and transportation are easily accessible. Vathy is also the capital of the island, there are some charming boutique hotels. On the other hand, in Kioni, there are few hotels but many guest houses and apartments. Here are a few places to stay in Ithaca that we found during our stay or that were recommended to us by friends and family and that we thought were nice.

Lodging in Ithaca near a beach

If you want to have the luxury of sleeping in Ithaca near the beach, we recommend :

  • Onar Dream House Apartments and Forkis Apartments on the beach of Dexia. That’s where I’ll probably go next time. These are studio apartments literally on the beach. No road to cross, ideal for children.
  • Near the Aphales beach and the archaeological site Odysseus in the north of the island, Homer’s View offers villas with breathtaking views and a shared pool.
  • Poli Home a two bedroom villa, 120m from the beach of Polis in Palikata

You can also choose to take the high ground and get a great view of the island. In luxury or more spartan versions, there is more choice.

  • The Villa Tramonto is a beautiful villa in Levki in the north of the island with a view of the sea.
  • Odyssey Apartments is well placed on the heights of Vathy. This hotel with swimming pool enjoys a beautiful view, it is also close to the beautiful beaches of Mimita and Skinos.

Generally speaking, we book our accommodations on Booking. Booking is easy, cancellation policy is clear and customer reviews are quite good.
