It offers ideal conditions, with winds ranging from 15 to 40 knots, depending on the day and coastline effects. However, if it rushes between two islands, its power is increased tenfold, as between Rhodes and Karpathos. Greek spots are often suitable for all levels of practice. Although the majority of sailing sites are freeride-oriented, there are also wave spots. So here are our top 5 sailing spots in Greece.
1 – Windsurfing in Lefkada
A change of scenery and planning are guaranteed on the island of Lefkada! Located in the Ionian Sea, Lefkada offers more than ideal conditions for windsurfers, with thermals and sheltered bays.
Discover the idyllic beach of Vasiliki, on the island’s south coast. It is renowned for its steady winds and is recommended for beginners and experienced riders alike.
Come with family or friends, it’s a popular vacation destination. Charming accommodation. And there are plenty of sites to delight you, such as Nydri, Agios Nikitas and Sivota.
- Where can you windsurf in Lefkada? Vasiliki is considered one of the world’s best sailing sites. Despite the strong afternoon winds, the waters are often flat, ideal for windsurfing. At Agios Ioannis beach, the water is a little deeper and you’ll find higher waves, making it more suitable for kitesurfing than windsurfing;
- You can rent a board or learn to windsurf with the clubs and schools that offer courses and workshops, particularly in Vasiliki.
2 – Windsurfing in Paros

3 – Sailing on the Athenian Riviera

Among the beaches closest to Athens, you can also ride at Schinias on the northeast coast and at Artemida-Loutsa.
